Once known as Awbrey Heights, this area was named after a legendary Bend pioneer who settled in Oregon around 1870. Many landmarks and streets in Bend are named after this early settler.

There are two golf courses nearby. Awbrey Glen Golf Club offers a magnificent 18-hole championship Bunny Mason-designed course surrounded by soaring views, numerous lakes, and spectacular rock outcroppings, while
River’s Edge Golf Course was featured on Golf Digest’s “Best Places to Play” list.
